The DMV uses NY.gov ID to allow access to MyDMV. NY.gov ID gives you access to many different New York State online services with a single username and password. If you do not already have an NY.gov ID you use for other New York State transactions and services, you must set one up before you can access MyDMV.

Set Up an NY.gov Account

Step 1: Go to the "Welcome to MyDMV" homepage and click "Sign In"

Add MyDMV to your NY.gov Account

Step 6: On the NY.gov landing page, select the MyDMV button.

Step 7: Enter your personal information to sign up for MyDMV. You will need:

• the 9-digit DMV ID Number and 8-or 10-digit Document number from your most recently issued New York State driver license, learner permit, or non-driver ID (see sample documents) - if you never had a New York State license, permit or non-driver ID, you cannot register for MyDMV.
• the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
• your date of birth.
• the ZIP code currently on file with the DMV (if you moved can update your address information after you log in).
